Research Grant Competition 3 (RGC3) – Call for Concept Note Applications

The GCBC Opportunities Portal is now accepting Concept Note submissions for the Third Research Grant Competition (RGC3). This competition supports research projects that address one or both of the following themes:
- Using biodiversity to improve the climate resilience of agricultural, food, and bioeconomy value chains – Focused on nature-based solutions that restore biodiversity in agrifood systems to boost climate resilience and reduce poverty.
- Biodiversity hotspots in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) – Developing sustainable businesses from nature to protect biodiversity, adapt to climate change, and alleviate poverty.
Successful Concept Note applicants will be invited to submit full proposals. Projects must align with GCBC’s priorities, including poverty alleviation, gender and social inclusion, and climate resilience.
Eligible Regions: Latin America (including Central America), the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
Funding & Eligibility
- Up to 20 grants will be awarded.
- Grant amounts: £100,000 – £1 million per project.
- Duration: 12-36 months.
- Projects must:
- Address biodiversity and climate resilience.
- Incorporate gender equality and social inclusion (GESI).
- Be research-driven and innovative, aiming for scalability and impact.
Application Process
- Deadline: Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 23:00 UTC.
- Concept Note submission through the GCBC Opportunities Portal (registration required).
- Following assessment, selected applicants will be invited to submit full proposals.
